Ravens Cut Ties with RB Bell

The Baltimore Ravens are reportedly parting ways with RB Le’Veon Bell. The former All-Pro running back struggled to generate any kind of on field results even in Baltimore’s wide open backfield competition this season. The Ravens cut ties with the 29 year old after he totaled only 83 yards on 31 rushing attempts to date (2.7ypc).

From a fantasy perspective this doesn’t move the needle much, as Bell was likely on the waiver wire in your league to begin with. It does however suggest that Latavius Murray may be close to returning from an ankle injury that’s kept him sidelined for the past 4 weeks. While he’s certainly not lighting the world on fire, Murray is averaging 3.6ypc and seemed to be establishing himself as the preferred option in Baltimore prior to his week 6 injury against the Chargers.

Bell will now be subject to the waiver process, though it’s highly unlikely he’ll have many teams clamouring for his services. During Thursday night’s embarrassing 22-10 loss to the Dolphins, Bell only managed only 1 yard on the ground on 3 touches.

The former Steeler has bounced around between multiple teams of late, having stops in New York, Kansas City and Baltimore. A few months shy of his 30th birthday, Bell’s NFL career may be coming to an end.

Moving forward, expect Murray and Freeman to split carries for the Ravens, with Lamar Jackson acting as a RB/QB combo in Greg Roman’s offense.
