Canucks Re-Sign Brock Boeser To 7 Year Deal

The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed forward Brock Boeser to a 7 year, $50.75M contract extension the team announced Tuesday.

The deal was finalized just before the start of free agency was set to begin, and quickly removed one of the top scoring forwards from the market. There had been rumours since before the trade deadline that Boeser’s days may be limited in Vancouver, however it appears as though the Minnesota native is now a key piece of the team’s core players moving forward.

“Brock has been a huge part of our organization, and we are extremely happy to have him back in the fold,” said GM Patrik Allvin. “He has scored some big goals for our hockey club and has established himself as a very dangerous offensive player. Brock is a leader and culture setter in our locker room, and we’re confident he will continue to play an important role for our team moving forward doing great work both on and off the ice.”

Boeser’s cap hit will come in at $7.25M annually, and helps shore up the team’s top six forward group heading into the fall. The 6’1″ 208lbs winger has appeared in 554 career regular season games, accounting for 434 points (204G, 230A) across 9 seasons.

The 27 year old had a down year offensively by his standards last season, tallying 50 points (25G, 25A) in 75 contests. This was following a career best 40 goal, 73 point campaign for the Canucks in 2023-24. According to Allvin, the team’s signings of Thatcher Demko and Conor Garland helped sway the American winger to extend his stay on the west coast.

Originally selected 23rd overall by Vancouver in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Boeser has been a fixture atop the Canucks scoring leaderboards since joining the club full time during the 2017-18 season. He figures to occupy a spot along Vancouver’s top line of Jake Debrusk and Elias Pettersson when training camp breaks later this year.
