Myles Garrett Signs Record Contract Extension

The Cleveland Browns are giving DE Myles Garrett a record setting contract extension that averages $40M per year and includes $123.5M in guaranteed money. The deal will make the star pass rusher the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

The contract will also include a no-trade clause and ties Garrett to the Browns through the 2030 NFL season.

With a deal now signed, it puts an end to an awkward saga between the franchise and their former Defensive Player of the Year. In early February, Garrett made a public trade request, stating that he wanted to be traded to a contender.

Things appeared headed for a messy divorce after reports began to circulate last week that the Browns ownership group denied a meeting request from Garrett’s camp. The 29 year old had previously been linked to teams such as the Philadelphia Eagles as a potential landing spot if a trade ultimately materialized.

However, at the end of the day, money talks, and the Browns willingness to back up the Brinks truck for their disgruntled star was enough to smooth things over between both sides. Garrett recorded 47 tackles, and 14 sacks in 2024, all while facing constant double teams and schemes designed to stop him.

With that piece of business now taken care, Cleveland’s front office can turn their attention to the upcoming NFL Draft, where the team holds the 2nd overall pick.
